You Don’t Have the Right Program
There are specific computer programs that are compatible with COL files, and you may not have one installed on your computer. The most common programs are Unknown Apple II File, Notes Import Column Description File, and Movie Maker Collection File. Try installing one or more of these programs and see if you can open the file. A universal file viewer, like File Magic (Download), is a tool that you can use to open a file when no other program will work. They can open many different file types, depending on the format. However, some files are incompatible with universal file viewers and will only open in binary file format. If none of the other options listed work, try a universal file viewer to open your COL file.
