If You Don't Have EXP: The Scientific Word Processor Style Sheet, EasySpreadsheet Native Format File, or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Saved Game Software Installed
In order to open your ESS file, you will have to download EXP: The Scientific Word Processor Style Sheet, EasySpreadsheet Native Format File, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Saved Game, or another similar software package.
If Your Computer is Not Configured to Open ESS Files
If you have the relevant software, but your computer still won't open the software, you will have to change the file associations on Windows or Mac. Depending on your operating system, you can ensure that your computer always open ESS files using EXP: The Scientific Word Processor Style Sheet, EasySpreadsheet Native Format File, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Saved Game, or another program of your choice that uses ESS files.

If the ESS File is Corrupt
In some instances, you may receive an error message stating that the file is corrupt. If you have tried all of the above, and it still doesn't work, download or request a new copy to see if that works.
Open ESS File the Easy Way
If you don't want to download EXP: The Scientific Word Processor Style Sheet, EasySpreadsheet Native Format File, or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Saved Game (for whatever reason), and the other options also don't work... that's okay!
Even though some ESS files must be opened in a program for which it was developed (binary format), you may still be able to open it in a universal file viewer such as File Magic. Download File Magic now from the Microsoft Store and open your ESS file!
