The Quick Way to Open Files with APS Extension

Different software packages use different file extensions, so if you can't open the APS file, it could be because:

  • You don't have the associated software on your computer (Flash, ArcPad Ver. 5 Symbology, and Advanced Patching Systems with Error Checking are the most popular software packages that use APS file).

  • You may have Flash, ArcPad Ver. 5 Symbology, or Advanced Patching Systems with Error Checking but your computer is not configured to associate APS files with the relevant software.

  • The file is corrupt.

If You Don't Have Flash, ArcPad Ver. 5 Symbology, or Advanced Patching Systems with Error Checking Software Installed

In order to open your APS file, you will have to download Flash, ArcPad Ver. 5 Symbology, Advanced Patching Systems with Error Checking, or another similar software package.

If Your Computer is Not Configured to Open APS Files

If you have the relevant software, but your computer still won't open the software, you will have to change the file associations on Windows or Mac. Depending on your operating system, you can ensure that your computer always open APS files using Flash, ArcPad Ver. 5 Symbology, Advanced Patching Systems with Error Checking, or another program of your choice that uses APS files.

If that still doesn't work, you can get in touch with your software developer to find out what you can do. You can contact any of these developers for more information or assistance:

In some instances, you may receive an error message stating that the file is corrupt. If you have tried all of the above, and it still doesn't work, download or request a new copy to see if that works.

Open APS File the Easy Way

If you don't want to download Flash, ArcPad Ver. 5 Symbology, or Advanced Patching Systems with Error Checking (for whatever reason), and the other options also don't work... that's okay!

Even though some APS files must be opened in a program for which it was developed (binary format), you may still be able to open it in a universal file viewer such as File Magic. Download File Magic now from the Microsoft Store and open your APS file!
