1. Download another program.

2. Look at the file type.

The file type can sometimes tell you which program might open the file. If you have BMTP files, they are most likely types of Uncommon Files. A program that works with Uncommon Files should open BMTP files.

Don’t know the file type? You can find it by right-clicking the file and selecting “Properties” or “More Info.” The file type will be listed under “Type of File” or “Kind”.

3. Check with the software developer.

4. Install a universal file viewer.

Universal file viewers can open many different types of files, depending on the format. If your BMTP file won’t open, try installing a universal file viewer like File Magic (Download). Some files aren’t compatible with universal file viewers. These files will only open in binary file format.
